Beyond the weather stations and soil sensors used on the farm, research calls for measurements on the plant itself: leaf area meters that do not damage the leaf, point-and-shoot NDVI meters, handheld PAR light meters and dendrometers, manual or logging, for trunk growth.

SDI-12 loggers with a solar panel and measurement and control loggers bring the trial sensors together, and multiparameter probes keep track of surface water and groundwater.
