Levelogger Software 4.0

Levelogger Software Version 4.0 is written to support the Levelogger Edge, Levelogger Junior Edge, LTC Levelogger Edge, Rainlogger Edge and Leveloader, and is backwards compatible with the Levelogger Gold series. Version 4.0 offers many features, including the ability to barometrically compensate multiple Levelogger data files simultaneously.

What is a water level data logger?

A water level data logger is an instrument that automatically and continuously records fluctuations in water level. The data logs are stored in the data logger’s memory and can be downloaded using software, or collected by other means such as a smart device app, telemetry or a data acquisition system.

Many water level data loggers use a pressure sensor to measure the water pressure above the logger’s zero measurement point. Those pressure readings can then be converted into equivalent water level measurements. Solinst offers both absolute and vented (gauged) pressure sensor water level data loggers. An absolute data logger measures both water and atmospheric pressure, so its water level data needs to be barometrically compensated. A vented data logger is vented to the atmosphere and only measures water pressure.

Typically, water level data loggers are programmed, stopped, started and set to record at a specific interval using a software program. Solinst water level data loggers can be set to record water levels as often as every 1/8 of a second. A water level data logger is an alternative to a water level meter, which requires personnel to measure and record water levels manually. That makes it ideal for long-term, uninterrupted water level monitoring and for short-term hydrogeological studies that need a high frequency of water level recordings.

Solinst water level data loggers also record water temperature; in addition, the LTC Levelogger Edge records conductivity. They are compact instruments that combine the pressure sensor, temperature sensor, conductivity sensor, memory and long-lasting battery in one durable housing.

Being all-in-one, these data loggers make deployment easy. Solinst provides the option of deploying via a simple wireline or rope, or using direct read cables that allow communication while the data logger is installed and logging (vented water level loggers are deployed with vented communication cables). Water level data loggers can be used to measure groundwater levels as well as surface water levels in rivers, streams, lakes, oceans, etc.
