SSR1D Solar Radiation Sensor

Built for permanent outdoor service, the SSR1D measures solar radiation over the whole hemisphere with a full 180° field of view, using a photodiode as its sensing element.

It performs well in photovoltaic, food farming, thermal convection and evaporation systems, and it is fully compatible with data loggers that have a 0-3V voltage input.

Calibration and mounting

Calibration was carried out under natural, unshaded daylight, so readings taken under artificial light will not be correct. The usual setup measures the radiation falling on a flat surface, but the sensor can also be mounted upside down or tilted when needed.
