Temperature and RH

Relative humidity (RH) and temperature sensor with SDI-12 output

Reference
SRH1A

The SRH1A measures relative humidity with an accuracy of ± 1.8% RH (at 25°C) and temperature to ± 0.2°C, a level that suits high-standard meteorology as well as environmental and industrial measurement. Its digital SDI-12 interface lets it connect easily to a wide range of data loggers.

The housing is made of POM-C, a very rigid material valued for its hardness, durability, good creep resistance and low water absorption. Because the material is fully ESD resistant, the sensor can be installed inside Electrostatic Discharge Protected Areas (EPA).

Overview

Installation

A compact body and several mounting options let the sensor fit into tight spaces and attach to masts, walls or other structures. It is meant to be installed in a radiation shield, which keeps water, dust and direct sunlight off the sensor. A 1m cable is standard, and other lengths are available.

Mount the sensor in a position that keeps water from getting in. Water will not harm it, but dew forming on the sensor distorts the readings until the filter and the sensing element dry out. When required, the capacitive sensing element can be calibrated with specialist equipment.

SDI-12 output

Thanks to its SDI-12 output, the SRH1A works with every data logger that supports this communication standard. SDI-12 (Serial Digital Interface at 1200 baud) is a serial protocol used in environmental measurement:

  • only an SDI-compatible device with the digital addressing system talks to the pre-configured sensors;
  • a sensor whose configuration does not match stays silent in sleep mode;
  • SDI-12 sensors use a three-wire connection.
