LightScout Quantum meters show how much of the available light plants can actually use. Because PAR counts only the light used in photosynthesis, it tells you more than a foot-candle reading.

The meters measure photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) between 400 and 700 nm over a range of 0 to 2,000 µmol·m-2·s-1, and several configurations are available.

Accuracy by model

Every Field Scout Light Meter is accurate to ±5%, with cosine correction accurate to ±3% at 45° and ±7% at 80°. This applies to:

3415FSE and 3415FXSE
3415FQF

PPFD readings (3415F)

Quantum Light Meters come calibrated to display PPFD, over a range of 0-1999 µmol m-2 s-1.

PAR plus foot-candles (3415FQF)

The 3415FQF Quantum and Foot-Candle Meter reads both PAR light and light intensity as the human eye perceives it. Human vision responds most strongly to light at approximately 560 nm, and perception drops to half at 500 and 600 nm.

Displayed values run from 0-1999. Multiply them by 10 to get Foot-Candles, which gives the meter a range of 0-19990 Foot-Candles. As 1 Foot-Candle equals approximately 10.8 lux, multiplying the meter reading by 108 gives the value in lux.
