A handheld kit for checking any Acclima SDI-12 soil sensor in the field: the RD1200 reader displays the readings and, on sensors with “Waveform Capture”, also records and plots the waveform. Built at customers' request, it brings the patented technology of the Acclima TDR-315H® soil moisture sensor to a simple portable interface for instant readings.

Everything ships in a rugged carrying case: a 32 GB USB drive, a True TDR-315H digital soil water content sensor with Waveform Capture and an M12 connector, and an international power adapter kit to charge the unit.

Measured data

  • Volumetric water content: 0 to 100%, with 0.1% resolution
  • Permittivity: 1 to 80, with 0.1 unit resolution
  • Bulk electrical conductivity: 0 to 5,000 μS/cm; resolution depends on the reading range
  • Pore water electrical conductivity: 0 to 55,000 μS/cm
  • Temperature: -40 to +60 °C, with 0.1 degree resolution

Additional functions

  • Data storage and export: readings are kept on the device and moved to a PC or Mac with the included USB drive.
  • Irrigation recommendations: on-the-spot soil analysis suggests the moisture thresholds for irrigating each soil type.
  • Waveform capture: added at the request of soil scientists, who can now view the full waveform returned by the TDR.
  • Multiple sensors: works with several TDR-315 sensors, simply connected through waterproof M12 connectors (ordered separately).

Rugged 316 stainless steel waveguide, with an expected service life of more than 20 years.
