Overview

The HD52.3D... series are static 2-axis ultrasonic anemometers that measure:

  • Wind speed and direction, plus the U-V Cartesian components of wind speed
  • Wind gusts (only with the MODBUS-RTU and SDI-12 protocols)
  • As options: relative humidity and temperature, global solar radiation, barometric pressure or rainfall

Rainfall and global solar radiation are mutually exclusive, so an instrument carries one or the other. Every model has a magnetic compass, and wind speed and direction are averaged over a user-configurable period of up to 10 mins.

Interfaces and outputs

  • RS232, RS485, RS422 and SDI-12 serial interfaces, with NMEA, MODBUS-RTU and SDI-12 protocols
  • Two analog outputs, one for wind speed and one for direction, factory set to 4÷20mA (standard), 0÷1V, 0÷5V or 0÷10V as specified with the order
  • Optional ILAC-MRA traceable factory calibration (ACCREDIA)

Why choose it

  • No moving parts, so maintenance is kept to a minimum
  • Picks up very low wind speeds that traditional methods cannot detect
  • Low power draw makes it suitable for remote sites running on a solar panel and battery
  • With heating option “R”, snow and ice do not build up and readings stay accurate in all environmental conditions
  • Quick, easy installation, with alignment helped by the built-in compass
  • Brings the main weather station variables together in one compact, lightweight instrument
  • The MODBUS-RTU output lets you network several instruments
