Overview
The HD2016 measures rainfall by weight. Water entering through its 400 cm2 inlet collects in a reservoir that sits on a load cell; the rain gauge's internal electronic board processes the load cell signal and outputs the rainfall data.

Data provided
- Total rainfall
- Partial rainfall, counted from the last reset or reading command
- Average rainfall rate over the last minute and the last hour
Measured rainfall is saved at regular intervals to non-volatile memory, so nothing is lost if power fails. Because the collected water is discharged automatically, the gauge can be mounted on a compact, lightweight structure.
Heated version
For accurate readings in cold weather there is the HD2016R, whose heating switches on automatically below +4 °C to stop snow and ice from building up.
