Rugged and self-sufficient, the DS1921G Thermochron iButton measures temperature and stores the result in a protected memory section. It logs at a user-defined rate, either as a direct record of temperature values or as a histogram: up to 2048 values taken at equidistant intervals from 1 to 255 minutes, with a histogram of 63 data bins at 2.0°C resolution.

If temperature leaves a user-programmable range, the DS1921G also notes when it happened, how long it stayed outside the permitted range and whether it was too high or too low. A further 512 bytes of read/write NV memory can hold information about the object the DS1921G is associated with.

Applications

It suits temperature monitoring of anything it is attached to or shipped with, such as perishable goods or containers of temperature-sensitive chemicals.

Initial sealing of the DS1921G reaches IP56. Ageing and conditions of use can degrade the seal over time, so where there is significant exposure to liquids, sprays or similar environments, placing the Thermochron in the DS9107 iButton capsule is recommended.
